Hiking with Holly

Trip Planning and Pre-Trip Nerves

Trip prep is underway, but also…pre-trip nerves are underway. I am stressing about everything. I still have soo much to do! Prepping for a hike is always a big job (lots of logistics). But on top of that, I am leaving work for 3 weeks and I have a household to get ready for an extended leave. Bills to pay, suspending my Imperfect Produce deliveries, and setting up my son with all the schedules to water/get mail/add pool chemicals, etc. etc. Getting everything done at work over a month ahead of time is no easy feat as well. I am not sleeping much at night as I cannot get my mind to shut off. Calgon take me away! Oh gosh, that probably just totally dated me.

I have spoken a little bit about what we are planning for this summer, but I tried to not say too much about it in case we do not complete our goal. Fear of failure is a hard one for me. And everyone knowing of my failure is even harder.

We are planning a thru-hike of the Tahoe Rim Trail. Of course it is a high snow year, so that complicates things a bit. We are going for it, but if we cannot complete it, the goal is all about the journey, not the destination. We are out there to have fun, push ourselves, and be in God’s creation. If we need to stop early, the trail will always be there and we can finish it another time. That is what I tell my inner competitive self every single day. Ha-ha!

I plan on writing some posts while we are out there, plus put some videos and pictures on my Instagram. Please follow me there if you want to see more “real time” accounts of where we are and what we are doing. We are planning for a start date of July 30th.

Gotta get back to prepping!
